INCREASING THE LIKELIHOOD YOU’LL BE HEARD

communication courses

Communication. The most important skill in your arsenal. It drives everything you do. Every message conveys both content and credibility. How clearly you deliver your idea is as important as the idea itself

Firms falter because they naively believe they are better at this than they really are. Or the new technology is just too good for anyone smart to ignore. Yet all too often, the presenter’s content, intent, and passion fail to reach the audience.

A so-so presentation is not your fault. Most of us have simply not had access to science-based practices of presentation and persuasion.

Communication is at the core of all of our training.

It’s telling your STORY, not the facts and technical information you deliver.
It's using the right kind of SUPPORT MATERIALS, DEMONSTRATIONS, AND VISUALS to make content engaging, clear, and memorable. You'll learn what the most successful organizations already know.

These principles and practices will change the way you look at presentations and how audiences look at you.

You'll be armed with tools to use immediately. To tell better stories. To tell your stories better.

There is no substitute for just practicing. In front of others. Getting objective need-to-hear feedback. This follow-up offers a platform for PRACTICE, so presenters don’t rehearse in front of their audiences. We offer a supportive environment to perfect skills.
CRITIQUE: What you need-to-hear, not just want-to-hear
COACHING: Constructuve words and confidence building

Participants present to a small group of peers and mentors, then VIDEO of the pitch, receive FEEDBACK and RECOMMENDATIONS.

It's a platform to experiment in a risk-free environment. To hone. To make mistakes and learn from them. Grow confident. Become comfy with content. Anticipate the tough questions. See yourself as your audience will. Become immensely poised and professional.

You'll leave with tools of self-evaluation and a network of peers to rely on in the future.

C3 deck construction and repair: using visuals to clarify and align

skills

Just because you say it doesn't mean it's heard or understood. Studies show how little people remember unless it's UNDERSCORED VISUALLY. That's why tools like PowerPoint are so important and why it's sad PEOPLE USE THEM INEFFECTIVELY.

We'll change the way you use visuals and help you create decks and support materials that inform, clarify, and impress. But it’s not about PowerPoint gimmicks, but instead the STRATEGIC USE OF VISUALS/MNEMONIC DEVICES as a business asset and how to TELL AND REINFORCE STORY, INCREASE ATTENTION, RETENTION, AND CLARITY.

We help you make your message clear and your image professional and credible.

The workshop is based on two decades of experience, best practices of leading presenters on the planet, tools and techniques of visual designers and message strategists, and backed by research in neuropsychology and learning theory.

HELPING YOU FIND AND HONE YOUR STORY

C4 Cultural and language differences: being clear in any language

skills

For an idea to be understood, the presenter must be understood. Language and culture can influence what is heard. These can effect how content is organized and what the audience takes away. Making sure what we intend to say is what the audience hears is hard enough without these furthe challenges.

Body language, choice of words, and inflection can have a meaning in one culture but quite another in an American business setting. Accents can make new concepts more difficult to comprehend. A misplaced or mispronounced word can change meaning or lose the audience. Even the structure of outlines diffebased on cultural differences.

The burden to be understood rests solely on the presenter, never on the audience.

This workshop will help those of from other countries better understand American presentation culture and at the same time teach ways to be better understood.

It will assure that what-you-mean is what-you-say and what-you-say is what-they-hear. You'll minimize the differences, so your audience can focus on the content and maybe not even be aware that your language may be different from theirs.

SPEAKING THE SAME LANGUAGE

C5 business writing: on paper. on screen

skills

Nearly every business activity leans on the WRITTEN WORD. Presentations. Plans. Follow-up. Letters. Emails. Reports. Marketing copy. Summaries.

A document can make or break the next step or sometimes everything you've ever wished for.

Those who write well are more EFFICIENT, EFFECTIVE, RESPECTED, and IMPRESSIVE. Their intent is clear. They get done what they intend.

We assume we do it just-fine because we have been doing it for so long.

But the edge accrues to those who can get their message across CLEARLY, CONCISELY, AND ACCURATELY. And ELEGANTLY.

This workshop provides a look at what we thought we knew but maybe, just maybe, didn't. Because it is the obvious things that will bite us on the backside. You'll leave with skills that experienced business communciators put to use everyday.

If these writing talents don't translate to dollars, we'll eat our words.
